Before you can transfer airtime, you must change the default PIN which is 0000.

How To activate and Change your MTN Share PIN:

  • Send an SMS with your Default PIN New PIN New PIN to 321. For example, send an SMS with ‘0000 1234 1234’ to 321.
  • You can also change your PIN by dialing *321*Default PIN*New PIN* New PIN# on your phone and then click on send/press ok. For example, dial *321*0000*1234*1234# and then send/OK.
  • Once done you will  receive an SMS informing you that your PIN was changed successfully.

How to transfer airtime using USSD

  1. Dial *321*Recipient’s Number*Amount*PIN#
  2. This must be done on your phone and then click on send/press OK.
  3. For example, dial*321*07034365786*1500*1234# and then send/OK. When the transfer has been completed, you will receive a message informing you that the transfer was successful.

How to transfer airtime using SMS

  1. Compose a new message: Open your phone’s messaging app
  2. Text format: In the message body, type “Transfer <space> Recipient’s Number <space> Amount <space> PIN” (without quotes).
    • Replace “Recipient’s Number” with the phone number of the recipient (MTN number in Nigeria).
    • Replace “Amount” with the amount of airtime you want to transfer (in Naira).

Method 1

  2. Set a New PIN: Carefully enter your desired new PIN twice for confirmation. The PIN is usually 4-digits and should be something you can remember easily but difficult for others to guess.

  3. Confirmation: You should receive a confirmation SMS indicating that your MTN Share (transfer) PIN has been successfully reset.

To Change your MTN Share PIN: Send an SMS with your Default PIN New PIN New PIN to 321. For example, send an SMS with ‘0000 1234 1234’ to 321.

A: You can only transfer in Naira amounts and not in kobo, i.e. you can transfer NGN71.00 but not NGN71.99.
